Matcha Hot Chocolate with Cacao - the best healthy and cozy drink for cooler weather. It is super easy to make and ready in about 10 minutes. It is also packed with healthy fats and antioxidants.

Ingredients for Matcha Latte in a Blender
- Matcha - Ceremonial Grade Matcha is best for this recipe.
- Water - Water is the base of our matcha.
- Milk - Milk makes our latte nice and creamy.
- Cacao - cacao adds chocolate flavor.
- Dark chocolate - this gives the quintessential hot chocolate taste.

Substitutions
- whole milk - you can use a creamy plant milk like almond or coconut.
- cacao - cocoa powder can also be used, I like cacao powder because it has additional antioxidants.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Step 1: Whisk together matcha and hot water.
- Step 2: Whisk together chocolate, cacao and vanilla with warm milk.
- Step 3: Pour in matcha and whisk again.
- Step 4: Top with frothed milk and serve.
Serve.

Use good quality matcha and milk for the best tasting latte. I recommend ceremonial grade matcha and a creamy plant milk like Three Trees or Malk or a grass fed whole milk like Zeal creamery.
I recommend using a good quality dark chocolate for this recipe like Hu Kitchen.

Really any milk works. I prefer almond milk with mine and my favorite brand is 3 Trees vanilla almond milk or Malk vanilla almond milk.
Ceremonial grade matcha is the best. Your matcha should be a vibrant green color.

Matcha Hot Chocolate with Cacao
Equipment
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole milk or milk of choice divided out ¾ cup + ¼ cup
- ¼ cup hot water
- 1 teaspoon matcha Use code avocadoskillet for 20% off my favorite matcha (linked)
- 1 tablespoon dark chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate
- 2 ½ teaspoons cacao powder sub cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Sift matcha into a bowl and whisk together with the hot water. Set aside.
- Add ¾ cup milk to a sauce pan/ small pot over medium heat. If you don't have a milk frother add all the milk to the pot.
- Bring milk to a simmer. Add chocolate, vanilla and cacao. Whisk together until chocolate is melted and everything is combined. Pour in matcha water mixture and whisk again. This whole process should take about 3 minutes. Remove from the heat.
- If you have a frother, add ¼ cup of the milk to the frother and froth on the warm setting.
- Add matcha hot chocolate to mug of choice and top with frothed milk. Serve and enjoy.
