High Protein Everything Bagels with Cottage Cheese
Ingredients
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- everything bagel seasoning
- 1 egg beaten
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Add cottage cheese to a food processor or blender. Blend until smooth.
- Add flour, baking powder and salt to a bowl. Mix together. Fold in cottage cheese. Knead with hands until everything is just combined.
- Split dough into 4 even pieces. Add some flour to your hands and roll each piece of dough into ¾-inch thick ropes and join the ends to form bagels. You want to make the hole in the middle at least 1 inch big otherwise your bagel will not have a hole.
- Add bagels to a sheet pan lined with parchment paper. Brush with egg (you will have a lot of egg leftover, I saved mine and scrambled it). Sprinkle over desired amount of everything bagel seasoning.
- Bake bagels for 25-30 minutes and then let cool for 15 minutes before slicing. Add your favorite toppings and dig in!

Great recipe for healthier homemade Bagels! The cottage cheese makes the inside fluffy like a biscuit and they turned out so good! They don't crumble either as I made turkey sausage, egg, and cheese sandwiches. Super simple ingredients and execution, and I highly recommend this recipe.

I’m curious what the asterisk by the flour ingredient is for. I thought maybe for different options like whole wheat, but I don’t see any info. Thanks
Kristi says
Hi Claire, that was a typo. As far as flour substitutions the only sub that would work is all purpose gluten free flour.

You didnt put the bake temp or time.
