Chocolate Strawberry Cottage Cheese Mousse is a rich, creamy dessert that tastes indulgent but is packed with protein. Blended cottage cheese creates a smooth, mousse-like texture while dark chocolate and cacao add deep chocolate flavor. With the addition of strawberries this mousse tastes like a chocolate covered strawberry. It is also so simple to make and takes less than 10 minutes to assemble.

Rich + chocolatey. Dark chocolate and cacao powder give it a deep, indulgent flavor while still being nutrient dense.
Smooth + creamy texture. Blending everything together creates a silky mousse that sets perfectly as it chills.

Recipe FAQS
Cottage cheese is naturally rich in protein, helping with muscle recovery, fullness, and steady blood sugar levels. It also contains calcium and beneficial probiotics that can support bone strength and gut health, especially when it’s made with live, active cultures.
No! The chocolate, honey and vanilla completely mask the cottage cheese flavor.
Yes, both work. A food processor usually creates the smoothest texture, but a high-speed blender will also work. You will just need to stop and scrape down the sides a few times.
Recipe Pro-Tips
Do not leave out the oil when melting the chocolate, this makes everything come out more smooth and prevents the chocolate from seizing and becoming lumpy.
I’ve only made this recipe with full-fat cottage cheese so far. I imagine 2% would still turn out well, but the texture and flavor may be slightly lighter and less rich, which can still be great. If you can, opt for grass-fed dairy; it usually has a milder, cleaner taste and less tang.

Chocolate Strawberry Cottage Cheese Mousse
Equipment
- 1 blender use either a blender or food processor
Ingredients
- ¾ cup dark chocolate chips - melted
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon cacao powder
- 1 ½ cups cottage cheese
- 2 teaspoons honey optional, but I do think the extra sweetness brings out the flavor
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¾ cup fresh chopped strawberries
optional toppings
- bee pollen
- melted chocolate
- flaky salt
- additional fresh chopped berries
Instructions
- Melt together chocolate and coconut oil. I melted mine in 3 30 second intervals in the microwave, stirring each time.
- Addmelted chocolate and all other ingredients except for the strawberries to a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth. If you use a blender you are going to need to stop to scrape down the sides a few times. This recipe works better in a food processor but a blender also works.
- Add mousse to a bowl and fold in strawberries. Refrigerate for 30 minutes or freeze for 15, until set. You can divide it out right away into the individual portions and refrigerate or just leave it in the bowl.
- Add your favorite toppings and dig in.
