Dates are amazing in my book. I love using them in raw desserts and I especially love the natural caramel taste that they have. Dates are also full of good for you things like fiber and potassium! These Salted Caramel Bliss Balls (vegan) are made with dates and are so yummy!

These salted caramel truffles make use of dates. The dates give these truffles an amazing caramel flavor. I love mine drizzled with chocolate but feel free to leave that off to make them even healthier. If you leave out the maple syrup then these truffles are added sugar free. Personally I can't wait to snack on these truffles all week long (or a few days depending on how long they last lol). They are full of healthy fat from the nut butter so they make a perfect healthy sweet snack! If you are sensitive to nuts just sub out the almond butter for tahini or sunbutter. I also think the oat flour could be subbed with a larger amount of almond flour if you wanted to go the paleo route. Either way these truffles are delicious.

Ingredients

This makes 9-10 truffles

  • 12 soft dates*
  • 1/3 cup oat flour (could sub with ~2/3 cup almond flour)
  • 1/4 cup almond butter (can sub any nut or seed butter)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp maple syrup - optional but helps enhance flavor
  • 2-3 tbsp melted coconut oil

+ 2-4 tbsp melted chocolate and flaky sea salt  to top

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until you have a paste. Roll into balls and freeze for 15 minutes to set.
  2. Drizzle truffles with melted chocolate and flaky sea salt. Let chocolate set and serve. Store truffles in the freezer long term, or the fridge for a few days.
