Sticky Sriracha Maple Baked Tofu

5 from 2 reviews

Tofu is really the original vegan protein and I love it so much. There are so many ways to enjoy it, but for me crispy with a good sauce takes the cake. This Sticky Sriracha Maple Baked Tofu is both crispy and drenched in a delicious sauce so it checks all the boxes for a perfect tofu recipe!

This crispy sriracha tofu  is perfect for all tofu lovers. The maple syrup gives this recipe serious fall vibes as well. The sweet and spicy flavor is so good together, it's hard to not eat the entire meal in one sitting! Ginger and garlic add extra nutrients to this meal plus some gut healing compounds.

All you need for this tofu is a handful of ingredients and your oven and stove top. The sauce takes less than 5 minutes to make thanks to arrowroot starch. Arrowroot starch is one of my favorite things to keep on hand, it's perfect for making things crispy and thickening sauces.

Ingredients

Scale

Tofu

  • 1 block tofu- pressed, drained and cubed
  • 1 tbsp aminos or soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil (or sub whatever oil you have)
  • 1 tbsp arrowroot flour/starch (or sub corn starch)

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup liquid aminos or soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp sriracha (adjust according to spice preference)
  • juice from 1/2 lime
  • 1 tbsp vinegar (I used apple cider)
  • 1/2 inch piece ginger - minced
  • 1 clove garlic - minced
  • 4 tbsp water or broth
  • 1 tbsp arrowroot powder/flour (or cornstarch)

Extras (optional)

  • Rice
  • veggie of choice ( I went with broccoli roasted at 425 for 25 minutes with salt/pepper and oil)
  • sesame seeds
  • scallions

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl toss tofu in aminos and oil. Toss tofu in starch 1/2 tbsp at a time. Shake your bowl a few times to get everything really combined.
  3. Roast tofu for 30-35 minutes or until desired crisp level is reached.
  4. While your tofu is cooking, make your sauce. Heat a pan or pot over medium heat. Whisk together all sauce ingredients. Pour sauce into the hot pan and bring to a simmer until sauce starts to thicken.
  5. Toss your tofu in sauce and serve with desired toppings and sides.
