Equipment

Ingredients

optional toppings

  • 1-2 teaspoons sesame seeds or poppy seeds

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Add cottage cheese to a food processor and blend until smooth.
  • Add flour, baking powder and salt to a bowl. Mix together. Fold in cottage cheese. Knead with hands until everything is just combined.
  • Flour your hands so the dough does not stick. Divide out dough into 3 even sides pieces. Form into balls and add to a sheet pan lined with parchment paper or silicone. Flatten slightly with your hand so they are about the height/size of a bun keeping in mind that they will rise some what.
  • Brush the buns with egg (you will not use the entire egg, I suggest scrambling it and eating it). Top with sesame seeds if using.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes and then let cool for at least 15 minutes. You can use them immediately or store in the refrigerator for 5 days or the freezer for months.

Notes

These buns are somewhat more dense then a regular burger bun however they are still delicious! They would taste so good toasted on a fresh burger.
